MY PHOTOGRAPHY

"I have been a photographer now for more than twenty five years.....I guess I was always meant to be a photographer"

As a boy I spent a significant part of my life sailing the oceans of the world with my family; we lived in Sudan for almost a year after our first shipwreck and backpacked all over America after our second.

I always remember my first significant image was one I took in the Empire State Building, it was a simple image of me looking into a mirror taking a picture of me taking a picture of me. It was not a great artwork but it was the first time I really thought about what I was doing.

Although now tertiary trained as photographer I think I really developed my "photographic thinking" in the university of life as we travelled the world. My first camera was a gift from my parents for my twenty first birthday; I still have it and treasure it as my most important camera.

I love camera's...for me they are a work of art in themselves. I love how they feel, how they sound and of course what they do.
